Grendel es un grupo electro dark proveniente de Países Bajos, formado de un nombre previo que remonta hasta 1997. Su nombre proviene de Beowulf, cuento nórdico en donde una bestia llamada Grendel acecha un pasillo de prado y devora a los guerreros que duermen
En los inicios de 2000, se puso a la venta el primer CD de promoción, que incluyó el éxito en pistas de baile holandesas ‘’Strangers’‘. En un corto periodo de tiempo, este tema se escuchó en muchos lugares de los Países Bajos e incluso en el extranjero (como Alemania, Bélgica y España).
Después de esto, Grendel empezó a recibir ofertas para participar en giras , y FLRS (live synthesis & engineering) se unieron a la banda. Medio año después sacaron el primer demo CD titulado ‘’Inhumane Amusement’‘. Este CD llegó al sello germano NoiTekk (una subdivisión de Black Rain records), que convenció tanto a tanta gente del sello que firmaron con ellos inmediatamente. La demo fue remasterizada, rediseñada y reeditada junto con nuevo material y salió a la calle en el 2000 como álbum de debut del grupo. Este primer cd fue acogido con grandes elogios.
A continuación pusieron a la venta un EP, ‘’End of Ages’‘, en 2002, que marcó un nuevo territorio para Grendel, con canciones como el éxito internacional ‘’End of Ages’‘, el machacante ‘’Catastrophe’’ y el intrigante ‘’Noisome’‘.
El EP se completaba con remixes de canciones del CD hechos por las bandas Feindflug, Arzt+Pffusch y God Module.

Chemicals + Circuitry can be seen as a bit of a musical expedition, whereas the upcoming album will be more of a real continuation of where Harsh Gen left off. But then far more advanced than either releases and making a perfect balance of both new and old. Very satisfied with both the EP and how the album production is coming along, each in their own right.
