Go far enough and you will reach
A place where the sea runs underneath
And we'll see our shadow, high in the sky
Dying away in the night

I love this, mainly because it made me cry. Not the main song, but that short instrumental passage. So delicate, so gentle. That short moment stands out among so many great pieces by Genesis.

I love this album and especially this tune. I could not listen to it for 30 years. The last time I had heard it was at the funeral of my best friend. It was only after I met my wife that I was able to try to listen to it again, she brought it with her to the marriage. It still make me cry.

The first time I heard this song and it came to the refrain, I immediately recognized the musical passage as one I'd before in another song, but I couldn't for the life of me remember what song. It took me years to rediscover the other song. It was "Shannon" by Henry Gross, which had been a hit in the spring of 1976, only a few months before Genesis recorded "Wind and Wuthering". I won't speculate on whether Genesis may have perhaps unwittingly nabbed the passage from that song.

This is from the first or second album with Phil Collins as the lead man after Peter Gabriel left. It's actually no a bad album but this is not the original and isn't very good. Disco Genesis followed shortly thereafter.

I'm not sure what "disco Genesis" (see below) is meant to be, thought I'm sure this particular song has nothing to do with it.

I always agreed with Steve Hackett. This should have been left off the album, it simply doesn't fit. Why was the magnificent "Inside And Out" not used here instead?

Great song with great vocals. Sorry if I like Collins era a hell of a lot more than the Gabriel era. I prefer songs with more of a great melody and harmonies, but that's me!

Love the album but this song is totally out of place on it. The live version with the strings from the 86-87 tour that can be found on the second Archive box is actually really nice but this original version is just cheesy and should've been replaced with Inside And Out which is million times better.
