Funeral For a Friend (nombre que proviene del nombre de una canción de Planes Mistaken for Stars) está formado por Matt Davies (vocalista), Gareth Davies (bajista), Kris Roberts (guitarra), Darran Smith (guitarra) y Ryan Richards (batería). En oposición a la creencia divulgada, el vocalista Matt Davies y el bajista Gareth Davies no estan emparentados. El grupo de Bridgend, Gales apareció en la escena musical en 2002 con sus EP´s Between Order And Models y Four Ways To Scream Your Name, ambos del mismo año y ambos con cuatro temas cada uno.

Davies y compañía se metieron durante tres días en los Mighty Atom Studios de la localidad galesa de Swansea para grabar su primer EP. Between Order & Model consiguió un éxito considerable ya que a partir de entonces la banda comienza la gira británica junto con bandas del calibre de Finch, Boysetsfire y Juliana Theory. En 2002 también grabarían su segundo EP, Four Ways To Scream Your Name donde aparecería uno de sus temas más importantes, Juno (más tarde renombrada e interpretada como Juneau) junto con otro tema que daría mucho que hablar en el futuro.

Este último Four Ways To Scream Your Name fue clave en la trayectoria del grupo porque, además de la impactante portada de un gato agonizando, incluía Escape Artists Never Die, que posteriormente se colaría en las listas de éxitos británica. Funeral For a Friend estaban disfrutaron de un verano de 2003 realmente dulce participando en los principales festivales británicos tales como Download, T In The Park, y los prestigiosos Festivales de Reading y Leeds. Un más que impresionante aperitivo para lo que vendría en septiembre.

It's rare for people to keep the exact same music taste for 7 years, especially if you're a musician. Which is why all good bands never write the same album more than once. FFAF were young back in 02-03, and their music reflected that. It's been awhile. They've obviously changed and matured, and their current music reflects that. They are one of my favorite bands ever, and I love everything they have put out in a different way.

Adding to what some people have said here but also giving another opinoin on things... Lets face it if they made every single album the same as casually dressed it would get a bit tiresome and boring i like how they change through the albums it shows they can do more than one thing which quite alot of bands cant. They are one of those bands that are a million times better live. Its good that they try out/test different sounds. The thing is people will winge no matter what thier never going to please everyone. Im looking forward to the new album i think the new songs on the your history is mine album are great I hope they continue to make great music for many years.

yea man, i saw the mlive this summer the ywere amazing!!!! and come on, Tales dont tell themselves was mediocre, but the rest of their albums are great, including memory n humanity, and the 4 new tracks .. im lookin forward to their next album!

i agree with star-kron... all bands will change and evolve, so they too... wtf are you expecting?... back to the roots? the roots are what? nothing, but their feelings and their doing on stage. i saw them live, and that was the best ever... if you want to change them... back to old stuff... than just listen to old stuff and go with the time and think of yourself

sure, they don't sound like Casually Dressed anymore but they dont sound like one of the other albums anymore either. They do the music that fits their feelings, thoughts and emotions of the time they're making the album. Thats what they always did and ever will do. I think they dont care that much about the expectations of fans, labels or whoever. The only thing that is important for them is to be honest in what they do. Casually Dressed was SIX YEARS! ago and they have grown up but when you see them live, then you realize that they are still the same, awesome band.
