Uno de los fenómenos más importantes del metal, o mejor dicho del rock en general, sucedió con el ocaso de la década de los ´80. Más específicamente en 1986, cuando un grupo de visionarios alemanes liderados por Kai Hansen dieron vida a uno de los movimientos musicales más fuerte de los que tenemos conocimiento, estamos hablando de nuestro querido Power Metal, y de su banda madre Helloween, quienes mezclan la melodía del heavy metal, con el poder de otros estilos, como el thrash, tan en boga por esos días.
Y uno de sus puntos cumbres se dio en 1988, con el nacimiento de una de las obras musicales más maravillosas de que tengamos memoria: Keeper of the Seven Keys part. II, fuente de inspiración de numerosas obras a lo largo de las décadas posteriores, y, como se dijo anteriormente padre de una futura generación de músicos.
¿Porqué este preámbulo?. Por numerosas razones, la primera de ellas es porque la escena alemana nos ha dado numerosas muestras de talento, y entre ellas está la que nos convoca: los alemanes de Freedom Call. La segunda y no menos importante, porque uno de los líderes de esta banda, el señor Dan Zimmermann, está emparentado cercanamente con el padre de esta generación, ya que además de baterista y líder de Freedom Call, Dan es miembro de la banda de Kai Hansen, estamos hablando de Gamma Ray.
Y la tercera, y muy importante también, porque, como dijimos 1988 es una fecha importantísima dentro del power metal alemán y mundial con el nacimiento del Keeper of the Seven Keys II.
