Evanescence es una banda estadounidense de Rock Alternativo formada por Amy Lee (vocalista y piano), Terry Balsamo (guitarrista), Troy McLawhorn (guitarrista), Tim McCord (bajo) y Will Hunt (batería).
Provenientes de Little Rock, Arkansas.
La historia de esta banda comienza en un campamento, en donde Amy Lee y Ben Moody (los fundadores del grupo) se conocieron. «Durante el tiempo libre, escuché a Amy tocando el piano y cantando EscucharI’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That) de Meat Loaf. Me acerqué y me comenzó a cantar.

By meaning "pop" as a musical style as "metal" or "industrial" you're telling me that is acceptable to call a band "underground pop" as there probably are artists that make this kind of music and are not well-known. This is senseless.

@fagalloch: I'm not expecting anyone to agree with me :) You've quoted artists that make dance music as "pop", they are pop for they are well-known. The metal bands you've quoted are pop as well, for they are well-known, but still they are not as pop as Spears, for instance. "Pop" is not a musical genre, it only refers to a musical genre usually known for that crappy dancing music Lady GaGa and Spears make. Let's say Cannibal Corpse or Darkthrone hit the #1 charts sellling MILLIONS of albums and the media decide to change their focus from dance music to black / death metal. What will be pop, then? :) That fujikiri guy just shitted through his mouth since he showed up. I'm not even answering anymore.

He said "pop music" and "popular music" are the same, so Michael Jackson is/was the king of pop, so Bruce Dickinson could be the king of pop as well? Because both of them are very popular, you see what I mean? His comments don't make any sense and this discussion is useless!

I didn't use these words to make my point I used them to openly offend people back. Wait, you don't care about what RAC / Hatecore bands say but you care about white power bands say? Who do you think plays this kind of music? I'm in no "hate group" but I am in a intollerant people group as I am intollerant of many things, this is another topic, though. I like the wikipedia quote and it plainly justifies my point that Evanescence is pop as it was influenced by the quoted "musical wave", but I was expecting to see YOUR point, not wikipedia's.

Yes, you did use them. You used words like ‘moron’, ‘crack smokers’, ‘scumbag’, ‘shit’ several times to make your point. Tbh, I don’t care what RAC/hatecore music specifically talks about. I’m talking about your intolerance/hate groups + white power/rac bands which I’m sure you’re aware of. And no, not for argumentative basis, but to find the reason of your mentality. ‘Pop music is a music genre that developed from the mid-1950s as a softer alternative to rock 'n' roll and later to rock music.’ + ‘Popular music belongs to any of a number of musical genres, and stands in contrast to art music, and traditional music which was disseminated orally.’ For further info visit wikipedia, which cites to more serious works that support the statements.

@KatiOlen: I didn't say I don't agree :) The truth is boneheads are in no position to make any political statements, their mentality is too simple for such task. As ignorance grows, you're probably unaware that most of the RAC / Hatecore music doesn't contain "hate lyrics" per se. And I don't really know what you're talking about when you refer to my profile being "full" of these things, I almost don't listen to this music. Still, shame on you for needing to look into my profile to find arguementative basis :) I did NOT use AAH here, but I would like you to show me where I did so, if so. I can prove yours easily. Oh, do they mean different things? I would like to see this explanation pronto.

What the hell does that even mean? Why would you listen to music that conveys ideas that you don’t agree with? I wasn’t talking just about your bands, though, but also about the groups you're in. And you are free to think of it as a failure, but to me you already seem to be full of contradictions which in itself is a major failure. You keep repeating that we all use argumentum ad hominem and it’s definitely bad, yet you do the exact same thing moments later. FAIL. Also, YES, of course word ‘pop’ derives from ‘popular’ but in MUSIC they mean different things.

@KatiOlen:Doesn't mean because one likes determinate kind of music that this one accepts the "political" ideas behind". Your Ad Hominem, as I said, was a complete failure. Pop music and popular music are just the same, "pop" stands for "popular" abreviated, it's easy to see that. @eternal1remorse: you don't even know what "pop" is, have no right to speak whatsoever.

No need to speak about it when your profile is full of this crap. And yeah, to return to the original topic, you need to define yourself what is pop music and what's popular music. Pop music has its characteristics, popular music can be any kind of music.
