El comienzo de Emmure fue, además de un tanto peculiar, bastante complicado, y es que parece que el destino quiso que se unieran. No se conocieron ni en el instituto…ni en la universidad…ni siquiera se conocieron en persona, sino por Internet. Su vocalista (Frank Palmeri) con tán sólo 16 años ya había tenido nueve grupos, pero cansado de dichas bandas, decide ponerse a buscar componentes para un nuevo proyecto, todo esto antes de que las archiconocidas páginas de Myspace y Purevolume se hicieran populares, lo que lo hacía todo un poco más difícil, como él mismo dice. En abril de 2003 encuentra, en un tablón de anuncios, un mensaje de un tal Joe Lionetti, que tocaba la batería, además, tenía un hermano llamado Ben que tocaba la guitarra.

Había un gran problema, Frank Palmeri vivía en Queens mientras que Joe Lionetti lo hacía en New Fairfield. La situación no dejaba otra opción, si querían que el proyecto tomara forma, alguien tenía que desplazarse, por lo que finalmente Frank optó por ir cada semana durante un año. “Gasté muchísimo dinero, pero sin nunguna duda valió la pena”, dice Frank. Al poco tiempo se incorporan a la banda el guitarrista Jesse Ketive y el bajista Mark Davis. Con la incorporación de Jesse y Mark, la banda toma un pequeño giro, lo que comenzó como una banda de rock pesado, se convirtió en una máquina apisonadora. Su sonido y contundencia nos lo dejan bien claro.

El resto del grupo empezó a disfrutar del nuevo rumbo que tomaba el proyecto, componiendo a medida que pasaba el tiempo canciones más pesadas y contundentes, preocupándose hasta del más minimo detalle.

    I'm with Jonowev. Even though I like Emmure; they aren't 'good' musicians. But theres something about them that makes it not matter. Not every band needs to be Massively technical to be great, music is a message, a story, and if thats told by Horror cords and beatdowns then great. If it's told through gravity blasts, complex riffs and face melting solos (nile) that too is fine. Don't make the simpler music any less valid. It's like saying graffiti is less artistic than a Renaissance painting because it's not as complex. As for Emmure, I loved their Needlework EP and the following albums, and I even liked bits of felony. Not as much of a fan of SOTD but hell. Like most bands nowadays these get shit because of Scenefag teenage fans. which is a shame, but an inevitability. Though I'm probably just a cunt. [4]
