Not sure yet, thought it was Mona or U2 before looking. Not the Echo sound that I have come to adore so much. But maybe with time.

I'm not denying songs from this album, like this one, have catchy tunes, but I just miss the old E&TB. wel,if they want to change to something else, try some other direction...

yes I agree... Maybe they are just too old and try to make themselves sound more 'modern',which makes them quite a mediocre band now. But they've been boring since they get united,so nevermind....

The guitar riff is very similar to Ryan Adams' "So Alive". Very similar indeed.

"I don't hate this, but it's just so... adult contempo. " in case you havent realized they are adults now.. i dont like it either but lets be realistic

I definitely agree with benjaminroosien. They used to have a specific sound that could be easily recognized, but now the only thing that makes them stand out a little is Ian's voice, which I've always loved. The new album is just boring and it sounds just like any album, made by any band in the world, which is sad.

I agree with a lot of what benjamin said but I've always thought they were pretty bland and mediocre.

I was really hoping this would sound something like *anything* from their first four or five albums - even a little bit. I don't hate this, but it's just so... adult contempo. Coldplay is good at what it does; the Bunnymen really have no business trying to do that too. It's like they've completely forgotten their roots. I miss that McCulloch growl.

@zachhh - not putting them on an equal level as coldplay, but it's obvious from songs like this that Coldplay was majorly influenced by them, a fact which they've said on many occasions. Chris Martin even appears on "The Fountain."

EATB: The original Coldplay, and much much better. Long live the Bunnymen.
