Let's be rational about this: How is bands sharing names "stealing"? Especially if you're talking bands that have probably never heard of one another and sound nothing alike... Hell, a lot of bands that do share names were formed long before the rise of the Internet, too, so it's not like they could just check with Google to see if someone else was using it.
Or maybe shit bands should stop showing their pathetic unoriginality in stealing names from good ones. I'm surprised there isn't a death metal band called Dumptruck. Or a rapper. Give it time, I suppose.
Why doesn't last.fm just do like Discogs and find a way of making separate pages denoted by numbers in parenthesis: Dumptruck, Dumptruck (2)? Each band should have a unique page.
It'd be a lot less confusing/stupid if they did... I don't know the logistics of implementing such a system, but the fact that they hadn't considered this or fixed it WAY early on is fucking astounding to me. It's one of the biggest flaws with the site as far as I'm concerned.
I fucking hate this artist clusterfuck system they have here... Anyway, "Jangle Pop" Dumptruck gets my vote. D is for Dumptruck was a great and underrated album...
"Look at the Top Tracks and Similar Artists: it's obvious this page is owned by the hardcore band Dumptruck, and the picture should reflect that" <—I'll see what I can do to change that. Give me about a week. Thanks.
