this is why you are a retard. how can you say something as ridiculous as "pop music died with michael jackson". and that video is old, man, seen it many times. but here is the thing. people that wish to make money of music will ensure that a song that is catchy be repeated constantly on radio stations and television. do you actually think the pop artist would go through the process of "how can i make some money? ok, i'll get booked on this tv show, have the radio and tv stations play us this many times etc.." no, they do not have time for this. they are artist. lady gaga is a great example. she is an artist and has so much talent. her songs are abused on the radio and television, but this does not discredit her talent and ability to write really good pop songs. but you just won't understand any of this because you just listen to metal music.

Good album to start with? Or song? Trying to get familiar with the bands playing with BTBAM when I see them on the next tour.

Please watch this to see what I mean with today's pop music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pehHOqx7JXg I'm not close-minded at all but creating such music requires no talent and that makes me sick. It's not even about the music anymore. Pop music died with michael jackson.

Hm, I'm pretty confused about Meshuggah being in the similar artists. I mean, Meshuggah's brand of music follows a very linear path, in my opinion. I really can't see any similarities between their music other than the fact that both bands/musicians are awesome.

Dude, Ulique, get off it. Nobody cares. The conversation has moved on. Phoenix, I don't think Devin is scared. In an interview he stated that he makes heavy music because that's his favorite kind of music to make. He wants to try all sorts of things, a quiet album, a musical, etc., but in the end, he always plans on building massive, heavy, intense music.

tfpphoenixnl: you are such a retard. you are clearly ignorant of pop music to be saying such ridiculous things about it. pop music does not instantly mean shit. pop music is mainstream, for the most part, why should that be a problem? it is about the music, right? not about its status or position on the radar. and if me listening to miley cyrus, lady gaga, rihanna, jonas brothers etc... makes me a mind controlled puppet, then you are just an idiot. i listen to anything that is good. regardless of its genre. look at my charts and you will know what i'm on about. close minded metal heads are so pathetic.

I think Devin is scared that the fans want more heavy stuff so he keeps them on the line by telling he's working on something heavy. I'm sure he won't disappoint us but he shouldn't feel too forced to create a "heavy" album, because most of the Devin fans appreciate good music in general :)

If nothing else, Devin isn't as juvenile and angry as he used to be. So the lyrical and emotional structure of these pieces will be intense and crazy, but not furious. I don't think. That's just my assumption, though. Looking really forward to it. Here's to hoping it's just a few tracks long. Because that would be neat.

I'm thinking along the same lines as LiquidEternity on this one. Not that I think this is a bad thing in any way though! I think it will be awesome.

I'm starting to get the impression that Deconstruction won't really be that much like SYL, except that it will be very heavy as well.

The first time I heard anything from Devin was from this CD I bought from Hot Topic in ...7th grade. It was 5 bucks and had 250 random metal mp3s on it. 90% of the songs were awful. Though it did have Relentless and All Hail the New Flesh by SYL, Random Analysis and Traveller by DTB, and Namaste. So those were my first Devin experiences. :D

Namaste is mindblowing, heaviest thing I've ever heard. Dev's voice is simply awe-inspiring on that track.
