»Cute Is What We Aim For», que vendría siendo algo así como: «adorables es a lo que aspiramos ser»; es una banda compuesta por el vocalista Shaant Hacikyan, el guitarrista Jeff Czum, el bajista Fred Cimato y el baterista Tom Falcone. Cute Is What We Aim For se formó en Enero del 2005 en Búfalo, Nueva York, EE.UU.
El nombre de la banda se originaría como un «homenaje a un amigo». Pero también se dice que el Cute provendría de una forma que tenía Shaant en la secundaria de referirse a Cool; quedando la traducción del nombre del grupo a: «guay es lo que aspiramos a ser».
Comenzando con demos hechos en un cuarto, subiéndolos a MySpace y PureVolume; rápidamente tuvieron la atención y admiración de los jóvenes.
