I know most people say "first two albums only", but even the debut falls so far None So Vile for me I rarely feel the need to give it a spin. Not a bad album, just not great or even close to being on the same level as NSV.

Spicy_metalhead@ the follow-ups isn't downhill, actually it's not about music in general, it's about different vocal style and different production. don't read many reviews, listen and make your own opinion.

What album to listen next? I've heard None So vile and I think it's one of the best DM albums ever but as I see the comments and reviews, it's all downhill from here. Sooooo

As for Metallica, Death Magnetic is slightly above average. Better than their weakest albums, but not as good as their best. However, after hearing that Lords of Summer song they released, I have no hope for their next album being anywhere near as good as DM. I'd say that's a solid comparison, but the difference is that Cryptopsy changed because a ton of people left, while metallica seems like they just don't know what to play anymore

I dunno, I really like Once Was Not. It's a bit weaker than their earlier albums, but it still has some great, enjoyable work on it. Unspoken King is halfway decent for a deathcore album, but compared to the rest of their work it's pretty bad. Self-titled is just...bleh. It's not bad, but why would I listen to it when I can listen to any of their other albums?

Everything after Whisper is pretty much horrid, man. Especially given what they're capable of writing and kinda choose not to.

v Cryptopsy had only one "garbage" album, imo, so this is too far to correlate those two bands.

Discussion: I think of Cryptopsy as the Metallica of death metal. Put out some really fucking rad early work, has been garbage for over a decade, and continues to coast on the strength of their first couple albums. And if your only retort is "Metallica SUCKS" then you missed my point, fuckhead.
