Christian Death es el nombre del grupo de deathrock de Los Angeles formado en 1979 y al que se le considera el precursor de este estilo. El grupo estaba liderado y fundado por Rozz Williams, con el guitarrista Rikk Agnew. Uno de los mayores reconocimientos del grupo llegó con su primer álbum Only Theatre of Pain, que fue decisivo para el nacimiento del estilo deathrock dentro y fuera de Estados Unidos.

Después de que esta primera formación se disolviera un año después de publicar Only Theatre of Pain, Rozz Williams se une a Pompeii 99, grupo liderado y formado por Valor Kand, como vocalista. De esta forma Pompeii 99 pasa a ser llamado Christian Death. La música de Pompeii 99 unida a la voz de Rozz Williams da como fruto los dos siguientes trabajos de Christian Death; Catastrophe Ballet y Ashes. Durante la segunda gira de Christian Death, Rozz Williams deja la banda y vuelve a Estados Unidos para dedicarse a proyectos de índole más experimental. Valor Kand vuelve a ocuparse de las voces y a partir de 1985 Christian Death comienza una larga carrera de reconocimiento mundial y publica 10 trabajos más, manteniéndose siempre en activo.

Durante los años 90 Rozz Williams es persuadido por algunos promotores para realizar un concierto bajo el nombre de Christian Death, Valor aprueba la decisión por amistad a su antiguo vocalista a pesar de que el mismo día Christian Death (Valor Kand)se encuentra tocando en París.

    Goddamn it's hard out here to find a copy of Only Theatre of Pain on CD. I managed to find an original pressing on vinyl...and the copy I ordered in on CD a few months ago is finally here. Shall be gettign it tomorrow. Fuck yeah. No more shitty downloaded copies.

    this is wrong, reflection_kill. rozz was clean in the last 10 years of his life from any drug, and he said in interviews. after an year and half, or two, you dont feel any desire to continue to do heroin, once you have stopped is. rozz pretty much showed suicide tendencies in many of his lyrics, so this is more of an ideological/emotional thing.
