Celtic Frost es una banda influyente de Rock Vanguardista de los 80s, procedentes de Zurich (Suiza), mezclo el sonido del Hardcore Punk, Post-Punk y el Rock Gotico.

Celtic Frost se formó a mediados de los 80 por Thomas Gabriel Fisher (Tom G. Warrior, voces y guitarra) y Martin Eric Ain (bajo y segunda voz), dos ex miembros de Hellhammer, grupo de culto en el underground y pionero del Black con sonido sucio. Entre sus producciones mas destacadas estan «Morbid Tales», «To Mega Therion» y «Into the Pandemonium», cada disco con una evolución notable mezclando voces de mujeres, sonidos electronicos, entre otros. «Cold Lake» significo la decadencia y mediocridad del grupo por querer ganar dinero, adoptando la imagén y el sonido de una banda Heavy Metal e ir contra de la evolución de su sonido, por lo cual no pudo levantar cabeza la banda en discos como Vanity/Nemesis con sonido de Thrash clásico.

En el 2002, después de más de una década de inactividad, se rumorea que Thomas Gabriel Fisher y Martin Eric Ain están trabajando en un nuevo disco con el productor de muy buena reputación Peter Tagtgren ( Hypocrisy, Marduk, Immortal…) y un nuevo batería, Franco Sesa. Rumores confirmados en el 2006 con la salida de Monotheist, un disco totalmente negro y extremo, sin ninguna duda lo más terrorífico y con un sonido denso que jamás habia la banda, y que hace inmediatamente olvidar los mediocres últimos albumes de la Escarcha. Este álbum tiene multitud de invitados, cosa totalmente nueva para la banda.

Agreed on Vanity/Nemesis. Not on par with Celtic Frosts best but its not bad. Monotheist is still my most listened by them though.

What does everyone think about Vanity / Nemesis? Always something of a forgotten album, just listening to it again now and I think it`s a good effort. It`s nothing on the classic Morbid Tales / Emperor`s Return / To Mega Therion era but better than it`s reputation.

bigmat0 - I agree Celtic Frost were amazing on that tour, one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Was disappointed with Kreator, felt they were a bit tame and 'going through the motions' in comparison.... funny really cause I'm a big Kreator fan, and they were the main reason for me going there (hadn't listened to much Celtic Frost at that point). Can't wait to see Tom on the road again with Triptykon

lol @ countpestiles. Celtic Frost were around at the same time as Mayhem and before Darkthrone. Celtic Frost are considered first wave black metal while Mayhem and Darkthrone are seen as Norwegian black metal, which came later.

While I was outisde getting some chips from a burger van I realised I was standing next to Tom G, I was so star struck I couldn't even nod to him or say hello to him- true story
