Gran voz americana, nace el 1 de junio de 1981, en Rivensdale, Washington. Cantante y compositora, considerada una interprete muy original, su género es un sincretismo absoluto entre el pop, rock, country alternativo, llegando a fundir todos estos mencionados y surgiendo de ahí un estilo muy propio y original.
Su inicio un tanto improvisado se da a los 8 años, cuando impulsada por su madre sube al escenario «The Northwest’s version of the Grand Ole Opry» donde interpretó la canción “Tennessee Flat-Top Box” versión de Rosanne Cash.

En el 2004, Brandi Carlile consigue un acuerdo con Columbia Records. De ahí resulta un álbum majestuoso que lleva su nombre, Brandi Carlile.
Este mencionado álbum con rotundo éxito comienza a sonar por doquier, su fama se extiende rápidamente y es en el 2005 cuando es nombrada por la aclamada revista Rolling Stone como una de las 10 artistas revelación del año que prometen altura, calidad y una buena y exquisita aportación a la música contemporánea.

Too bad she succumbed to the loudness trend with her last album...the new album has more of that characteristic tinny and noisy sound, because the dynamic range is so low. This noise and distortion does not accentuate her (beautiful) voice well. I stil love her anyway, but her previous albums were exceptions to the rule with wonderful production and relatively high dynamic range, and I was hoping for the same with this one. Anyway, the music is great :-)

Saw her live the other day. She was so amazing, with Amy Ray as the opener. Cute too!!! She came out first with a leather jacket and skinny jeans--opened the song with a great a cappella...really wonderful. Cover of "Creep" and some Beatles songs, as well as Johnny Cash, new material and old. Closed with The Story, everyone screaming along. Amazing. If you get the chance, see her live!! The twins playing the guitars are really fucking fantastic. They give such an edge for her soft voice to play off.
