There's an evenin' haze settlin' over town
Starlight by the edge of the creek
The buyin' power of the proletariat's gone down
Money's gettin' shallow and weak

@sarahlikespeas, kick ass British last name btw. 'Sitting in bed, dosed up on flu medicine, throat feels like sandpaper, can't breathe out my nose and it feels like there's a rubber band around my brain, I start singing this song... and I'm amazed to find that I sound exactly like Bob Dylan.'

Sitting in bed, dosed up on flu medicine, throat feels like sandpaper, can't breathe out my nose and it feels like there's a rubber band around my brain, play this song and it all fades away for a few minutes. Aahhhh.

Excellent! Dylan got it in the 60's and he still get it today! One of the great ones!

It's so beautiful and melancholic at the same time. Indeed one of the best songs he ever made.

so this may be random but since time out of mind bob has written some of his best songs and classics that will stand the test of time. among these: Workingman's Blues #2, When the Deal Goes Down, Make You Feel My Love, Mississippi, Moonlight and I feel a Change Comin' On. Did I miss any?

This is as good as anything Dylan has ever done ! I just noticed it's now my number one song on my Last-fm top tracks list.

I like how he changed the live versions from the hopeful, regretful version of the album, to an almost angry, disillusioned version. 'If I told you my whole story you'd weep' and 'I'm still finding it so hard to believe, someone would kick me when I'm down'

One of the great things about his work in the 60s is that he managed to write political songs without sounding like a pamphleteer. On this song, he fails that test.
