Then she opened up a book of poems, and handed it to me, written by an Italian poet from the thirteenth century. And every one of them words rang true, and glowed like burnin' coal, pourin' off of every page like it was written in my soul from me to you ... Tangled up in blue.

David Cameron's favourite song. But don't let that put you off.

"She lit a burner on the stove, and she swept away the dust. Thought she'd never say hello, but she looked at me And said 'You look like somebody I can trust.' Then she opened up a book of poems And she said to me, 'Just so you'll know: Memorize these lines, and remember these rhymes When you're out there walking to and fro.'" (From the August 4, 2013 "Americanarama" tour performance)

If Dylan were a fiddler, then Cohen's "the fiddler fiddles something so sublime" might've been written about the 1984 incarnation of Tangled. I cried my way through the Offenbach performance (June 11th, 1984) yesterday and I don't mind saying it. It's so powerful it makes me feel I lived the whole story, lived and breathed and wept and bled it. I'm not sure a song has ever made me feel quite that way before.

Much prefer the early stuff (1960's) 'Like A Rollin' Stone ' Queen Jane Approx..' but then each to his/her own .
