En 1989 Michael Moynihan funda Blood Axis un proyecto con pocos trabajos discográficos, pero un clásico que ha influido y se a convertido en influencia para muchas formaciones Neofolk. Destacan sus colaboraciones con grupos de la talla de Allerseelen, Les Joyaux de la princesse y Boyd Rice.
Al igual que grupos como Sixth Comm o Allerseelen rinden tributo a las runas, la mitología nórdica, el honor y el valor; aunque Blood Axis también a sido objeto de polémica y protestas por grupos antifacistas en Norteamérica y Europa.
Independiente de toda la polémica que puedan generar; en lo musical es una banda que deja sin aliento, letanías del apocalipsis con unas atmósferas tan envolventes como electrizantes.
