Update: It occurred to me that "The Seus" is a play on "Theseus". Don't know why I didn't realize it earlier, but it is clear that the song is about the adventures of Theseus. En route to Athens to see his father King Aegeus, Theseus killed the evil robber Sciron, who forced his victims to wash his feet and who came from Megara, by kicking him off a cliff just as Sciron had done to many innocent travelers. Mr. Black's habit of penning excellent songs about historical figures and/or events is another reason why his work is so f-cking awesome. In my opinion, The Seus is a brilliant addition to the Frank Black catalog and a clear indication that Mr. Black continues to be relevant, vital, and just plain f-cking amazing!
"You're meat!" Indeed, Mr. Black, indeed! An excellent effort from Frank Black/Black Francis, and the first track I recall him "rapping" on. Someone told me The Seus is about a Greek legend of some sort. Any ideas? In any event, an amazing song. As Cox wrote, "So fucking good".
i love that he's always switching it up. i can't really say this doesn't sound like a FB song, because his songs have never sounded one particular day. The man has no boundaries. All musicians should be so openminded and experimental.
