people take drugs all the time, aspirin, caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, ibuprofen to think that somehow certain substances are against the law is ridiculous. if a doctor writes a script for a drug, and nowadays any drug is pretty much available via a doctor, its perfectly legal but if some person sells it, its trafficking - its just a matter of money. i think hicks was more trying to point out that aspect of it, verses that the actual drugs and drug dealers are a better system.

is the money the dealers and scum make from high school and college kids that allows them to buy guns that kill innocent people part of the "mind opening effect"? you never seem to mention it on your brainless arguments.

"C'mon, everybody, let's be hypocritical bastards. It's okay to drink your drug. We meant those other drugs. Those untaxed drugs. Those are the ones that are bad for you."

Nothing silly about talking about the positive effects of some drugs, which very few people does.. Pot, LSD, Mushrooms and DMT are all great drugs if used as directed (to quote Stanhope) and is easily connected to philosophy, art & free thinking cause of its mind opening effect they can have on you (especially DMT).. Pot can be a ambition killer though, seen it happen alot... Anyway, love you Bill.

Back in those days, popular music was not just "all the rage" it was put on by very talented, unique and passionate people. People with heart and soul and expressed it through creativity. Sure there were some shitty ones, and I personally think Magma, Boredoms and Ruins should be in there. On a side note, the ideology of the smoking/cancer thing isn't too intellectual, just funny and offensive. He's a button pusher

there's nothing wrong, but everyone was listening to those bands. stones were listened by the own teenage girls he criticized for liking cyrus or whatever at the time. it's not like he himself wasn't consuming whatever the labels were promoting. i didn't see him talk about true pioneer psychedelic bands. and there isn't a correct outlook in life because there is no universal moral code book. i do agree with him on a lot of subjects, but others i think are silly. the whole smoking vs health thing. the whole drugs are good for you and cure cancer attitude.

you missed the point dude..and what the fuck is wrong with the stones or ac/dc or jimi hendrix? nothing is...the point is not only did they ROCK, but they rocked hard and partied like no fuckin tomorrow. now everyone's a bunch of generic disney born pussies. but besides, his music taste or rants on it aren't whats important. its his no fear attitude, his highly intelligent and CORRECT outlook on life and the world around us. You should watch American: The Bill Hicks Story. I guarantee you're judging on all the wrong reasons

he wasn't that good and had a mediocre music taste for someone that complained that much about the current state of things. and he sounded like a 15 year old with the whole drugs thing.

Bill Hicks was the single most intelligent, intellectual, honest, deep and though provoking man to walk this earth in hundreds of years. I devote my career to this man for the words he's shared with the world, and hope humanity is smart enough to open their eyes and ears for this brand of wisdom. If not for Bill, we'd be lost. You need to witness, pay attention, listen, and not just hear. If you don't respect and/or like Bill Hicks, there is something wrong with you. Grow the fuck up...or kill yourself. Please, seriously, the world can't use ignorant, senseless scum like you.

What politicians did Bill support in life? I can't recall any. I don't think he'd feel any differently about today's politicians.
