Big Country es una banda de rock de Dunfermline, Scotland, muy popular a comienzos de los ochenta hasta mediados de esa decada aun siguen editando material para sus seguidores.

La banda era notable por su musica con fuerte acento heavy con estilos escoceses y de musica marcial, tambien por tocar y hacer ingenieria de sonido para que sus guitarras sonaran como gaitas y otros tipos de instrumentos tradicionales folkloricos.

Anyone who was at the fantastic 1984 Hogmanay gig at the Edinburgh Playhouse knows EXACTLY how fantastic these guys were. Sadly missed... Stuart Adamson was taken from us before his time... but his legend lives on in some of the greatest music you will ever hear. Real rock 'n' roll!

For those of you who only know the band's more 'popular' stuff see if you can listen to their various "Rarities" albums. They also did the soundtrack to a brilliant Scottish small-budget film called "Restless Natives" (about modern-day teenage highwaymen on a motorbike - sheer class); this music is on their first Rarities album. Also listen to their various other non-mainstream albums and the later ones. The song Living By Memory is so moving, especially when Stuart's suicide is considerd. If anyone wants any more info feel free to drop me a message.

Second gig I ever attended was on The Seer tour at Wembley Arena when I was around 13. I was right at the back, but they were momentous. Never saw them again, which is a big regret. A great band. Stuart Adamson RIP...
