La banda se formó hacia 1989, en Finlandia.
En sus comienzos tocaban Black Metal (1989-1993).
Después de sus dos discos de larga duracion «H418ov21.C» y «Electric Doom Síntesis», llevaron al Black Metal a limites que nadie se esperaba en donde la musica ritual, los sonidos electronicos y el estilo «Dark Ambient» como muchos lo llaman serian lo que más engrandeceria y ratificaria a Beherit como banda de culto. (1994-1995).
Grupo oscuro y blasfemo, con filosofia satanista y Anti-Religiosa.
Marko Laiho a finales del 2008 comenzó a grabar lo que es hoy en dia su nueva producción llamada ENGRAM un nuevo integrante hace parte de la banda el ya conocido dueño de la Spinefarm RECORDS quien ademas tambien ha tocado con THY SERPENT.
