Taxista por casualidad de Mark E. Smith (The Fall), concienciado con el desarrollo del planeta, fan de Bruce Springsteen, Pixies y Jeff Buckley, músico de mentira a la salida del metro… Badly Drawn Boy es como un turista accidental en el panorama del pop británico de la última década. De nombre real Damon Gough, formó el sello Twisted Nerve con Andy Votel a finales de los noventa y comenzó entonces su carrera de cantautor viendo así cumplido su sueño: hacer algo que le entusiasmara de veras. Tras cuatro aclamados epés, llegó ‘’The Hour Of Bewilderbeast’’ (00), prodigioso debut de alto voltaje lírico cosido con flecos tanto de pop experimental como de pop de autor, una aleación que define toda su trayectoria. Después de ganar con dicho álbum el Mercury Music Prize, llegarían la maravillosa banda sonora para ‘’About A Boy’’ (02), ‘’Have You Fed The Fish?’’ (02), y los autobiográficos ‘’One Plus One Is One’’ (04) y ‘’Born In The U.K.’’ (06), todos ellos sobrios tratados de pop cálido e inconformista, desaliñado pero lleno de matices.
