21 Dic 2009, 1:52 de arkanoid2009 was a weird year for me whet it came to music. It started in early january with a decision to clean up my music collection. I have always kept my tags as clean as possible, but my collection was growing beyond my management skills and as a result, things had crept in that simply weren't properly "tagable". Thus, a big cleansing began starting with all the easy things, complete albums, personal rips, and such. Musicbrainz was a big help in getting everything tagged, renamed, moved and neatly sorted but I still ended up with more than 5000 tracks that even they had to give up on. And so the rest of the was spent manually sorting this mess out, tracking down release information, submitting info to musicbrainz, looking up albums online and at the local library and finally discarding the music that simply didn't fit in properly anywhere. It took a long time but it made me rediscover much of my collection and even finding hidden gems that had escaped me upon their initial addition.

21 Jul 2009, 12:21 de amodelofcontrolA perhaps predictable subject for this week's Tuesday Ten: it's all about space, what with it being the 40th anniversary of the first moon landings this week. I've always thought of songs written to be about space travel, or related subjects, to be a very common theme, but in the event it actually turned out to be a really bloody hard list to collate. I'm sure that readers of this will suggest many more than I came up with, though...
Needless to say, there is a Spotify playlist for this (here - The Spotify URI: spotify:user:asw909:playlist:0HzmArtppDnynJCQDZac68), although one track from the ten is missing due to it not being on Spotify (no great surprise - the label it was released on went bust nearly ten years ago!). So anyway:
Where else to start than with the song that seems to sum up the mystery and wonder (and our darkest fears, too) about space travel like no other. Released, of course, the week of the moon landings back in '69…
13 Feb 2009, 18:36 de hdsanderTo celebrate the return of well formatted lists to the Last.fm journals, I made a list of One Hit Wonders with a little help of my friend knirrie and Last.fm's tags. Don't bother if you find your favorite artist here, some of mine are as also on this list. "A one-hit wonder is a music industry term to describe an artist generally known for only one hit single." says Wikipedia.
