Los países nórdicos y más concretamente Suecia viven un momento dulce (un momento que se remonta ya a más de una década) en lo que a proliferación de proyectos de pop electrónico de calidad se refiere. El enésimo ejemplo es Ashbury Heights, dúo formado por Anders Hagström y Yasmine Uhlin. Esta nueva sensación llegada del frío es una de las recientes incorporaciones más acertadas y con más futuro de los últimos tiempos en Out of Line. Tras su firma a principios de 2006 con el super-sello alemán de la escena independiente, se han hecho esperar más de un año antes de publicar este su esperado debut, ‘Three Cheers for the Newlydeads’. La pareja puede estar orgullosa de su primer trabajo oficial, ya que su escucha es como una gran bocanada de aire fresco en un género como el synthpop, tan congestionado últimamente por aburridas propuestas de medio pelo.
En su discurso no hay nada especialmente novedoso que llevarnos a la boca, es más, existen muchos guiños a bandas que más o menos todos conocemos. Podemos encontrar referencias en las que se adivina el romanticismo de Elegant Machinery, el histrionismo y contundencia rítmica de Welle:Erdball, o la alternancia de voces masculinas y femeninas que utilizaban The Human League. Su secreto reside en la forma de mezclar todas estas variantes más que en el fondo. Hablamos de un synthpop ochentero, descarado, directo, de bases muy marcadas y apabullantes melodías con gran amplitud de miras que oscilan entre lo frívolo y lo oscuro. Para obtener este brillante resultado se han apoyado en John Fryer, conocido por ser miembro fundador de los legendarios This Mortal Coil y sobre todo por sus labores como productor de artistas como Nine Inch Nails, HIM, o Cocteau Twins.

I will NOT leave the band just because some ppl don't like me. Music is my life and I will not stop doing it. And you shouldn't doubt Anders. He lives for music as much as me and he choosed me for my talent. So if you question HIS intention for bringing me in the band, then you really shouldn't listen to us.
