The new song is ok. I'd be upset if the entire album sounded like it, though I'm sure it wont. Arsis needs crazy ass riffing and sweet drums because they are all incredibly talented musicians. Beyond Forlorn is just them slowing it down a little bit, sounds like Arch Enemy indeed. I'm expecting a good new album though, we'll see!

That's the thing: it's not good. They were good when they were death metal. If I wanted to listen to really cheesy metal, I'd listen to new Amoral. Also, @kill, Arsis was ALREADY evolved when they started out. They were so different and that was already their true sound...their stuff has gotten progressively emptier with every release. They haven't evolved, they've stripped themselves down.

ok, joke was lame. it's just the expression "it's not arsis anymore" that I find to be weird. bands evolve, otherwise every album would be exactly the same. some bands evolve only slightly, some bands more rapidly. In my opinion, the latter are actually more true to themselves, because they don't stagnate due to their fans expactations.
