Het is gewoon compleet TOO MUCH!

There is only one Queen of Soul, and that is Aretha Franklin, without a doubt...but why #2? Well, I would admit, I haven't got around listening to enough of her output (excluding the oft-played
Respect & occasionally
Think)

Purchase Catch-Up, July 2008
13 Jul 2008, 10:05 de DSQUK
Okay, so March was the last time I updated this record of my purchases - and that's what I see this Journal as. It's quite interesting (sad?!) to look back at what you bought and when!
So, the following have been bought since March 30th.
Respect - The Very Best Of Aretha Franklin was nabbed from my iTunes basket, where it had been sitting for quite a while.
Think had been one of my favourite tracks since I'd heard an old friend playing it around 1993. Since buying this album, and more so over this weekend, Spanish Harlem has been on my mind and my speakers for quite a bit!
This is why I like albums as opposed to single track downloads - you'll often mind something you like better than your initial favourite.
Gilles Peterson Digs America: Brownswood U.S.A. is an obscure album which I found whilst hanging around the iTunes store. It has some good Jazz tracks on there.
The Worm and Electric Funk, both by Jimmy Mcgriff were added to my library in June. … -

Rating the Campaign Music
1 Feb 2008, 23:19 de Songfacts
From inspiring to bewildering, the 2008 presidential candidates are trying a variety of songs on the campaign trail. We rate them on their selections and give you the Songfacts.
#1) Barack Obama
Main Songs:
Move On Up - Curtis Mayfield
City of Blinding Lights - U2
Others Used:
Think - Aretha Franklin
(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher - Jackie Wilson
Lovely Day - Bill Withers
Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours - Stevie Wonder
Mayfield's classic "Move On Up" is as uplifting as they come, and the kids will relate to it through Kanye West's rewrite, "Touch The Sky." U2 is always reliable, and Aretha's "Think," while it is directed at a romantic interest, gives crowds a chance to yell "Freedom!" Obama took some heat for "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," as it implied the arrogant air of inevitability he criticized Clinton for, but it's a Soul classic, as are his other selections. Interesting that he's the only candidate using much black music.
