Banda de Heavy Metal fundado en Tokyo (Japón) en 1981 como un cuarteto, con Toshihito Maeda (cantante), Akifumi Koyanagi (guitarra), Naoto Shibata (bajo) y Takamasa Ohuchi (batería). Koyanagi dejó el grupo en 1983 y fue reemplazado por Hiroya Fukada. En diciembre de 1984 el vocalista Toshihito Maeda abandona también la banda y es reemplazado por Eizo Sakamoto, con el que graban su debut discográfico, el primero de una larga carrera.

If this band was English, or American, or German, it'd be one of the most well-known and appreciated, it'd be one of the great, inescapable bands present in the collection of every metalhead in the globe, alongside Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Metallica, et cetera. But no, they're Japanese, and because of that nobody west of Japan knows them. Good luck finding a western person who does; in the region I live in, anyone who knows Anthem is someone who knows me and learned about them from me.
