4 Abr 2015, 9:55 de Hollow0neThis is my top 365 tracks (as of January 3rd 2015, according to Last.FM charts). That means a song per day.
Day 83, (shared) 269. position: Guns N' Roses - You're Crazy (from the album Appetite for Destruction)
Was it the electric rock version of Appetite for Destruction or the original acoustic version found on Lies, either way it's a good song.
Day 84, (shared) 269. position: Ben Moody feat. Anastacia - Everything Burns (from the album Fantastic Four Soundtrack)
I don't really know or care what Ben Moody does and what other songs he has. But I happen to like Anastacia and this song is actually pretty good. I'm a sucker for ballads like this, I admit.
Day 85, (shared) 269. position: Manowar - Master of the Wind (from the album The Triumph of Steel)
Yeah, like I said, I'm a sucker for this kind of ballads. Big time. …
27 Ene 2015, 11:14 de sabberwormI have a new rating system I should explain. It has mostly arisen because I’ve felt the need to have more playing field when it comes to good ratings while I don’t need that many variations of “bad” for songs I don’t like. This leads to the ratings being lower than usual and, more importantly, more clumped together at about three stars. I tried to compensate for this by revealing the true average values instead of rounding to the nearest half-star as I used to do. Maybe next year I’ll find a representation that exposes more granularity without sacrificing presentation.
Songs without any music are excluded from the average. The top and bottom 10% of songs are excluded from the average.20 (★): Unlistenable40 (★★): Average60 (★★★): Good80 (★★★★): Very good100 (★★★★★): Excellent
Who doesn’t love Weird Al cranking out funny lines and making fun of the pop industry at the same time?
22 Ene 2015, 10:50 de RockroosterIt al starts in utter confusion. 2010 is not a good music year. In fact I consider Usher's DJ Got Us Falling In Love as the best of the year. I have nothing against him, but his track was the best of the dancepop that was ruling the charts. Other genres seemed to have evaporated or were incorporated with a dance-sting. 2009 ended with the powerforce named Lady Gaga, but she was in 2010 between albums so there was a void. Kylie Minogue delivered, but could not fill the void. The void remained empty. Making the year 2010 in music for me even more difficult to reflect is my four month abscence. I went to Africa from July till October. So there is a gap. A void and a gap. It was a confusing music year, but it turned out to change after all during the fall of 2010...
What A Song! What A Force! What A Difference (from eveything else on the radio)! Everything I needed to end the confusion was given to me with Rolling in the Deep. 21 was released during January 2011 and what a change again. …
20 Ene 2015, 11:07 de Rockrooster5 years have passed since this decade has ended. A decade which started when I finished primary school and went to secondary school. A decade which ended when I finished my studies. In other words: I have grown from an early teenager into an adult during this decade. Music has contributed in this development. In the 90's I would consider myself as an outskirt. Listening mostly to No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom, The Cranberries, The Cardigans and U2. My musical preference was rock-based. However all of that was about to change when the new millenium started.
Pop was knocking on the door. But I wasnot answering the door for Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera yet. 2001's Cowboys and Kisses was the missing link between my rockbased musiclove and the popworld waiting for me in the charts. What A Song! It was an eye-opener and made me look back. The singles from Anastacia before Cowboys And Kisses were not so bad after all. And neither was Britney's Stronger or X-Tina's Genie in a Bottle. …

1 Ene 2015, 11:21 de mark_roscoeSo 2014 turned out to be an OK year, thankfully better than 2013.
For my top albums of 2014 I thought I'd be a bit more scientific(ish). While I could pick out my 2 or 3 albums of the year I was struggling to put the rest in to any sort of ranking and my Last.fm scrobbles didn't reflect how I felt about the albums.
My solution? Divide the number of scrobbles per album by the number of tracks on the album and multiply by the month number in which I bought the album. My thinking was that this would give albums bought in the last quarter of the year a more accurate ranking as I'd had less time to accumulate scrobbles.
I'm pretty happy with the results :)
01 - 10
Bright Light Bright Light - Life Is Easy
Tove Lo - Queen of the Clouds
Jessie Ware - Tough Love
Foxes - Glorious
Sanna Nielsen - 7
Ella Henderson - Chapter One
Alida - To Where We Reside
Erasure - The Violet Flame
Queen of Hearts - Cocoon
Taylor Swift - 1989
11 - 20
Electric Youth - Innerworld
Thomas Azier - Hylas
30 Dic 2014, 22:35 de guy_like_uSo here we go again with my review of the past 12 months.
In summation, my biggest disappointment was Mariah's latest album. It wasn't terrible by any means, just not up to her standards.
Most pleasant surprise was the return of Lily Allen with IMO her best album yet.
Michael Jackson's record label surprised everyone by putting an album out that was actually very smart, very listenable and relevant. GRL put out the girl band single of the past few years. And Paloma Faith had my favourite song of the 2014. Well done.
Beyond that, I pretty much just listened to Beyoncé for the whole year. So there you go.
25 ARTISTS I LOVED THIS YEAR
1 Mariah Carey (1,151)
(831 plays in 2013 - increase of 38%)
Most played track: You're Mine (Eternal), 54 plays
(260 plays in 2013 - increase of 408%)
Most played track: Drunk in Love (feat. JAY Z) 63 plays
3 Lady Gaga (683)
(637 plays in 2013 - increase of 7%)
Most played track: ARTPOP 63 plays
4 Michael Jackson (533)
