Anaal Nathrakh es una banda británica de black metal, en ocasiones designada como post-black metal, formada en 1999. El nombre viene del hechizo de creación de Merlín en Excalibur de John Boorman (1981). Significa «aliento de serpiente».
Originalmente situados en el Black puro con el lanzamiento de Domine Non Es Dignus se acercaron al brutal death. Parte de sus seguidores llaman al estilo de la banda Necro metal por la temática de sus letras, los nombres de las canciones y el hecho de que su sonido es distinto del de las dos primeras olas del black.
Sus letras no son publicadas pero entre lo que se puede entender se sabe que versan sobre temas apocalípticos, la naturaleza de la mortalidad y el odio misántropo.
El grupo es un dúo y por tanto sólo existe en estudio. Sin embargo, una actuación para la BBC Radio 1 abrió las puertas a otras actuaciones excepcionales aunque afirman que nunca se convertirán en una banda normal con sus giras anuales.
Su primer concierto fue en el London’s Underworld, con The Axis of Perdition, Ted Maul y Leech Woman el 15 de diciembre de 2005 seguido del concierto en Edwards de Birmingham junto a Narcosis y Ramesses. Para sus conciertos colaboran con músicos de otras bandas como el que fuera batería de Cradle of Filth y Dimmu Borgir, Nicolas Barker.
En sus grabaciones ha intervenido el bajista de Napalm Death, Shane Embury, y en último álbum participó Zeitgeist Memento, de la banda mexicana Repvblika.
