El nombre de la banda fue inspirado por el libro ‘Di que amas a Satán’ (‘Say You Love Satan’). Es basado en los crimenes de Ricky Kasso (apodado ‘The Acid King’) quien comete un asesinato motivado por el satanismo en Northport, New York en 1984.
Acid King tambien ha aparecido en 2 libros – ‘La enciclopedia del Heavy Metal’ (‘The Encyclopedia of Heavy Metal’) y ‘De la A a la Z del Doom, Gothic y Stoner Metal’ (‘the A to Z of Doom, Gothic & Stoner Metal’) – ambos publicados en el 2003.
