Puscifer ist eigentlich mit einem Geburtsfehler auf die Welt gekommen. Begonnen hat alles mit einem Beitrag zum Underworld-Soundtrack in Zusammenarbeit mit Danny Lohner (ex- Nine Inch Nails. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt dachte noch jeder, dass die beiden, die sagenumwobenen Bänder der Tapeworm-Sessions nach dem Ausstieg von Trent Reznor im Alleingang aufbereiten und endlich unter das Volk bringen würden. Als dann die erste eigenständige Veröffentlichung anstand staunte man nicht schlecht, als eine Country-Comedy-Nummer namens Country Boner zu hören war. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt hatte Puscifer das Label inne, nur eine Geldgenerieungsmaschine von Maynard James Keenen, seines Zeichens Sänger von Tool und A Perfect Circle, zu sein.

Keenen selbst lässt das alles wiederum kalt und veröffentlicht in regelmäßigen Abständen neue Musik (ein Album "V" Is For Vagina, und zwei Remixalben: "V" Is For Viagra und "D" is for Dubby). Mit der nun vorliegenden EP "C" is for (Insert Sophomoric Genitalia Reference HERE) sollte sich sein Projekt schließlich doch als künstlerische Arbeit durchsetzen, gibt es doch vier neue Songs und zwei Bühnenaufzeichnungen zweier älterer Stücke. Die neuen Tracks bestechen durch raffiniertes Songwriting und abgesehen von The Mission "M Is for Milla Mix" auch durch ihr ruhiges elektronische Arrangement. Darüberhinaus findet MJK auch seine Stimme wieder, welche ihm viele Bewunderer eingebracht hat und wendet sich damit von dem rauchigen Geflüster des ersten Puscifer und größtenteils auch letzten Tool Albums ab. The Mission dagegen weißt eine tolle Klaviermelodie auf und DAS Highlight auf der Platte: eine Zusammenarbeit mit Schauspielerin/Model/Sängerin Milla Jovovich. Die beiden Bühnenaufzeichnungen bestechen durch eine komplett geänderte Darbietung im Vergleich zu den Originalen, meist ruhiger und weniger Tanzbar. Was bei Vagina Mine nicht weiter ins Gewicht fällt, Momma Sed jedoch jegliches Momentum raubt. Schließlich kommen wir doch noch zu den Tapeworm-Sessions: Potions "Deliverance Mix" ist in Zusammenarbeit mit Trent Reznor entstanden - allerdings nicht erst gestern, sondern schon vor Jahren, während diesen Sessions. MJK hat daraus einen neuen Mix erstellt (wie er es mit den meisten seiner Songs tut) und Trent als Hochzeitsgeschenk gemacht. (07/10)
