I don't know what you all think of Hatis Noit's "Universal Quiet", but for me its quite boring and uninspiring. It's more or less an acapella-album with a lot of mixing and editing (with the inclusion of ambient pads etc. but no instruments whatsoever). I find parts of some songs remind me of Mutyumu's vocal approach, but it lacks the variety at its very least. Now, please Hatis, bring us more Mutyumu instead of (kinda) mediocre side-projects... :/

@Perfect-Skies: I don't mean following genres like some sort of law. As I said, I think it's good to have them as guidelines when searching for music. How else could you find specific music styles or the like if genres were only described simply as metal, rock, pop, jazz etc. ? And no, I don't think being a genre purist is good for ones well being either.

As much as i like this band, i don't see myself needing a new album. I rarely listen to what i have here, since it's just too relaxing to listen to all the time. Anyway, needing or not, if it comes out, i'll be sure to welcome it by listening a lot.

vv I don't think so, she specifically said Mutyumu were recording demos last year, and that recording would start at the beginning of the year. While I really like Magdala and the solo album will probably be good, I'd rather have new Mutyumu.

@Perfect-Skies:The reason one maybe wants to find a genre close to their sound is it's easier to identify and find a common ground to talk around. You know what to expect (in some ways at least) if the band has some clear genres that it can be described as. And I think post-metal is the closest one as Mutyumu is like a mix of post-rock and metal. Then you can find experimental influences like black metal and ambient, but which are present at times and not always. But I agree with you that classifying the band as a single musical genre might isolate it from showing its unique aspects (which makes this band what it is).

"please for the love of any close to you, don't remove the "post-metal:ish" sound found on the older releases... because what I really fear is that we will have another Magdala-copy and that's NOT what I want this band to become :/" [2] My thoughts exactly. The post-metal mesh with all the other genres is what drives this band for me. The contrast between the beauty and the beast, the melody and the noise, the quiet and the chaos. I hope the new album will be in the vein of ilya, that album is still one of my favorites of all time.

I really hope, IF we'll have ANY release in the future from Mutyumu... please for the love of any close to you, don't remove the "post-metal:ish" sound found on the older releases... because what I really fear is that we will have another Magdala-copy and that's NOT what I want this band to become :/

There you go, was it that hard to give more *comprehensive* feedback? Just saying really bad does not give any justice for the band like this. I don't care what kind of music you like and I don't care if you don't like mutyumu, just gave you a taste of your own medicine.

Underneath me is a fellow who goes to comment on an artist's page just so she can say they're "really bad", then gets offended when others react to it.
