    Immortal Tech.. Dead Prez..

Virtuoso's new album (Word War II: Evolution of the Torturer) is very political too..

  • Mr. Lif is definetely political. I acually really like his style but cant stand how political his lyrics are.

I'll have to check out The Coup.

    Mr Lif.

Shadow is, but like someone already said, you'd not know it to listen to his stuff...or unless you had the gloaming picture disk.

    El-P too, albeit on a more...what's the word...subtle tip.

Aye, El-P's music strikes me as very subversive. The Nang, The Front, The Bush And The Shit is probably the most overt of them all, but it's only the tip of the iceberg, there's lots of great observations on Fantastic Damage.

Plus the title of that megamix he did, Wereallgonnaburninhell suggests something politically motivated.

Sage Francis is sooo dope .. but the most of his music doesn't really strike me as political .. i mean makeshift patriot was probably the most political i heard from him .. there are others here and there .. but not many .. but Sage is one of my favorites ..

I was wondering when someone would say that! Ice Cube and PE definitely.

Immortal Technique and Dead Prez of course... The Aesop Rock EP (Fast Cars...) had a shot here and there. Zion I too.

Immortal Technique is a given, as everyone else has stated. Some MCs & groups i know for a fact that have written political songs: Sage Francis, Micranots, Dead Prez, Sole, Mr. Lif, Aesop Rock (you'd have to catch it quick though or review his lyrics), Dose One (check out his Hemispheres album), Atmosphere, and Eyedea.

  • Amen to Gil Scott-Heron and the Last Poets.

Also, anyone remember Disposable Heroes of HipHoprisy? Those were the days...
