do you prefer old MA (b.lines / pro / mezz) or new MA (100th / col / hel)?

i love all MA styles, but first three albums have a lot of unbeatable masterpieces like Unfinished Sympathy, Teardrop, Protection, Angel, Karmacoma, Inertia Creeps, Safe From Harm, Risingson and more.. then from "100th Window" to now they don't use samples from other bands anymore and music sounds more electronic. excellent works too like Future Proof, Atlas Air, Splitting The Atom, False Flags, Silent Spring, Antistar, Rush Minute...

    please, leave your comment...

    thnx!

OLD! Even before Mezzanine! Listen to the group long enough and you'll come to realise that Mezzanine is just candy for angsty teenagers.

Sorry, nothing tops Mezzanine. I just don't feel the 'new' MA. Heligoland is not my cup of tea.

    @ Phlexus - Tea is good ;]

Well, I thought I was stuck in the golden middle, between Mezzanine and 100th Window.
...But here comes Heligoland and messes it up, with each listen I feel as though I'm falling for it more and more.
Massive Attack albums need proper time to be fully and thoroughly appreciated.

  • I like them all the way, Heli - not so much. It sure is a good album but not as good as mezz or 100th.

Mezzanine + 100th Window > all, for me of course.

  • All of Massive Attack's works were genius, but 100th Window was a bit boring. Heligoland is great though, but nothing can beat mid-Massive era.

  • I love all the albums. I guess if i had to pick a side i would go the old MA. Mainly because Blue lines and Mezzanine is the stuff of the legends. Although it doesn't take anything away from the other albums. praise for MA, for creating such ecletic music

the infinite is the finite of every instant
  • Blue Lines - Protection - Mezzanine is the best era, of course. But there are good songos on Heligoland. And some among the boring stuff on 100th...
