It's good to see there are still people joining this group, even though it is pretty inactive. If you're out of the loop, here's a brief round-up. The 3rd album from Ty side project The Jelly Jam, "Shall We Descend", arrived at the end of 2011 via Molken Music (US, indie, mail order). Molken have also been releasing demos and official bootlegs, including one to help cover Jerry's medical costs after he suffered a heart attack. (He's fine, BTW.) KX have been playing a few dates in the US and there is talk about going into the studio to record a new album during 2013. There is plenty of side project action, particularly from Doug. Already out is a self-titled disc from Pinnick Gales Pridgen (via Magna Carta), and Doug's new solo effort, "Naked", is due around May 2013. Doug has 3 more projects due this year, while Ty is set to appear on the new effort from Geoff Tate's Queensrÿche.

In case you missed it, check out Molken Music for live CDs and DVDs, demos of classic albums and other merchandise. "Tales From The Empire" is a double CD featuring a classic KX show recorded in Cleveland back in June 1992, while "Gretchen Goes to London" is a DVD featuring material from their 1990 appearance at the Astoria.

Some news... Dug Pinnick has a new side project, Anti Nigger Machine (which will probably go under the alias of A. N. M. or similar). It's an all black six-piece heavy groove-rock band out of New York and you can check out two songs at the band's Myspace: www.myspace.com/antiniggermachine dUg is also working on vocals for some new Supershine tracks according to a brief blog as www.myspace.com/supershinerocks If you don't know, Supershine is a collaboration between dUg and Bruce Franklin of Trouble - their self-titled debut hit the streets back in 2000 and is well worth a listen if you like dUg's solo stuff. Also in 2010, you can expect a new Ty Tabor solo album and InsideOut should get around to releasing the long awaited live album recorded in January 2009 at London's Electric Ballroom.

I'm going to see them next week in Marietta, GA. I'm super excited because this is my first King's X show. Anyone else going?

"The Edge" wiki here actually lists three different groups by that name, but unfortunately, none of them are the old King's X. Anybody can edit the wiki, and provide their source. I may do so one of these days, but if someone else wants to, be my guest.

Ok, so it's nothing to do with the U2 guitarist then - haha. Would make an interesting (though not necessarily good) collaboration though, wouldn't it?

250th member! Can't believe there are so few! (Someone's going to have to explain to me why The Edge is a connection though)

See BlabberMouth for news on Dug Pinnick providing vocals for Razr13, a metal band featuring members of the King's X road crew.

Anyone remember when last.fm had a functioning recommendation system? Well, way back then I suggested Half Zaftig to the previous incarnation of this group. I'm mentioning them again now because they still rock and you can listen to loads of their stuff here on last.fm. I'm also mentioning it because their vocalist/guitarist Shawn Farley is a big KX fan and currently has an interesting project on the go where he will release one recording every week, free of charge, throughout 2009. Check it out!

I give up trying to put a proper link in this shoutbox thing... Anyway, my original message: I wrote a little review last weekend, so in case anyone is interested: http://www.last.fm/user/swervedriver/journal/2009/01/30/2g15jz_%22welcome_to_the_church_of_rock_%27n_roll%22 . The main reason it contains the full setlist is because I asked a crew member whether I could have the one taped to the stage near Ty's effects. :)

Yeah, the London show was filmed by InsideOut Music (7 cameras) for a planned live DVD. I'm pretty sure they've been recording footage at all the Euro dates too, but only with a couple of hand held cameras. No idea on a release date though. If you can't wait you can always buy the "Gretchen Goes to London" DVD from Molken Music in the US. It's archive footage from the London Astoria show (plus other UK dates) from their April 1990 tour. There's been a great audio bootleg doing the rounds for years, but I hear they've done a superb job of cleaning things up for the DVD. Molken has a lot of great KX stuff, including the "Dogman Demos", studio outtakes and live material, plus the latest solo CD from Ty Tabor and the Xenuphobe albums. Visit www.molkenmusic.com for info – watch out for the audio when it loads! ;o)
