@KishoreR_ My Aspire One runs on Win 8 Pro 32bit. 4 months, no errors and no incompatibilities so far. 8 is much more lightweight than 7, has built-in antivirus, it's faster and can handle memory and battery a lot better (which is cruicial on a netbook). So, if you are willing to learn some new stuff and sacrafice start menu (8 start screen is the same thing) I would go with 8. And don't listen to people who bitch about it. Most people complain just for the sake of complaining. If you're not convinced about new MS OS, you can install good old 7 Home Premium and tell your friend to disable unnecessary services, remove some system crap and install Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus (fast, lightweight, does not hogs on your RAM).

@ptck_ I'm using Asus Eee Pc 1005PX and it's 3 years old. Yes you're right there are serveral pre installed application. I don't know how to get rid of that. But soon my friend will freshly format it. I believe there'll be no problem anymore. Which Os do you recommend me for this laptop? ATM it's loded with windows 7 with its preinstalled apps.

@KishoreR_, which Eee PC, there are several different models. I own Acer Aspire One netbook with Atom CPU (N570 Dual Core, clocked at 1.66GHz) but foo never hanged. Hell, it even works on a 9 year old, self assembled rig with 1,5GB RAM and Sempron 2600+ (2GHz, single core, ancient). Sooo, I bet there's a problem with your OS (too much factory preinstalled crap?).

Hi guys i need your help. I am using Asus Eee pc .Can anyone make a foobar skin for this notebook? I tried other skin but they don't fit on my 10'in skin and because of atom processor sometime foobar hang.. I'll appreciate your help.

@_ritualord, I was dual booting Ubuntu and 7 for quite a long time. You know, I like tinkering inside the OS guts. Also tried to make Ubuntu my main OS but it had very bad power management and heat issues. Now I'm sittin' on both Win7 and Win8 (which is oddly neat :) even the Modern UI is useful in everyday use).

@ptck_: didn't even bother to install Foobar under wine. My laptop expired its last breath when I hit it in a... little angry moment. It actually managed to survive to a lot of them in the past, maybe it was time to go. Anyway, now I have a new laptop: I tried to install a flavor of Linux at first but Ubuntu wasn't able to recognize both my ethernet and wifi network adapters. I actually tried a LOT of distros, but none of them correctly managed my network adapters. And after a month of trying distros I settled with a bloatware free version of Windows 7. Back to the official Foobar user! :-)

yeah, i switched to ubuntu and the only thing i missed from windows was foobar. but i still use it with wine, fortunately works fine with the new version that switched from alsa to pulseaudio. clementine is a great player too, but i can't live without foobar's file operations and conversion scripts that quickly and easily put and name my music where i want it and how i want it.
