I've asked the question of the NASM community, and Dramatic Metal won out over Epic Rock.

I've been working on the NASM scene lately. I'll probably get back to Epic Rock as campaign once that's done.

It's only a matter of time before someone takes Symphonic Metal and repackages it as something else for American audiences. I wonder what it will be called…

You can help the Epic Rock tag catch on by using it… on music that it applies to.

Ok, I take my comment about Globus back. After listening to their latest album a bit more, they're definitely rock, just not metal at all… Which makes me realize why I've been wanting to take exception to Muse belonging here. I'll say why in the forum topic above.

Krrissje, that's a good tagging system for last.fm but I think we need something else too, especially for the in between stuff. Casey, I think Globus is barely rock, but it's definitely epic, at least the last couple of entries. I am almost inclined to add E.S. Posthumous but they lack any regular vocals which Globus does use. Ashandvc, awesome! that's what I'm going for. =)

You are right. There is a lot of music being put out as "symphonic metal" or gothic metal that is not symphonic, gothic, or metal. It needs another name. Sometimes i just do not sure what i should tag for Evanescence Elysion Nemesea. Now maybe i could try Epic Rock

You NEED to add Globus to the connections!

I agree with nable7 but I have my own way of tagging. For example:Today I've tagged Dimmu Borgir with "black metal" and "symphonic metal". I could have simply used the tag "symphonic black metal" but this is a tag that I use very rarely. Call me strange but I don't want a thousand different tags on my page so I split it up in 2 tags that I use frequently. I'm not sure that this is what you mean but that's how I do it.

I had to make this group in my ongoing quest to truly identify what is happening globally in music. There is a lot of music being put out as "symphonic metal" or gothic metal that is not symphonic, gothic, or metal. It needs another name. Let's identify those artists here.
