Well this is rather late as for a response but in case anyone else comes here wanting to know then Fopp in the highstreet near Sainsburys is the best. There's also hmv in Lion Yard.

Sorry, I'm not much help finding a music shop, but I'm sure if you ask around at Rocksoc nights, you'll find someone who knows. We've got a gig on at The Man on The Moon tomorrow, and there's the next Wake Up Screaming on the 8th June (normally every 2 weeks, but venue holiday...). We try and keep a list of everything Rock and Metal related happening in Cambridge here Rocksoc or not. If you find a good shop, let someone know, and we can add it to our links page.

sweet - guess i'll go if i can get time off work as i really wanna see them and it's only excitement in an otherwise london- and work-based summer, but if so, will probably go on my own - i don't know enough metalheads :) sounds good though, cheers!

Bloodstock was really good, not as big as a lot of the european festivals, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The people there were as friendly as you'd expect from a decent metal fest, as in I spent the train journey talking to a group of random metalheads, and one of them ended up camping with us, there were also a random pair of people right next to our camp who basically joined ours. The last night, Chris Bowes from alestorm was very drunk and hanging out in the campsite. I'm planning to go, haven't got my ticket quite yet, but will do. Turisas are awesome.

hey guys, i was wondering if anyone has been, or is planning to go to bloodstock open air this year. it looks pretty good, and i'd love to see turisas, but is the festival in itself a good one? Haven't been to a festival in the UK before, so wondering whether people are sociable/approachable etc. cheers x

It's working... all metal (except for brand new and weezer, but I'm ignoring those) plus, they managed to show me a band I didn't know, which means they're really working.

It is time to make these charts more metal! We will make everything metal! Blacker than the blackest black times infinity!

another thing is if, say, you and 2 other people listen to Devourment and only Devourment, and 4 people just happen to listen to green day that week, green day will be listed higher.

The group charts are weird, they work by adding 1 for every person in the group listening to a band. Since the stuff people listen to outside of metal will be far more generic (lots of people have a bit of muse on the hd somewhere...) those bands get pushed to the top. The unique artists tries to subtract the bands overall popularity, but this just highlights really small bands...

I know, I would have expected Devourment of all bands to be there instead!
