'Alternative rock or simply alternative is a genre of rock music that emerged in the 1980s and became widely popular in the 1990s. The name "alternative" was coined in the 1980s to describe punk rock-inspired bands on independent record labels that didn't fit into the mainstream genres of the time.'

Look what's on our mtv nowadays? Everything is alternative other than rap (we are not going ban rap here) They make rock look bad. Ever have people coming up to you and say rock sucks, thats because of what they saw on tv. They make the whole rock genre sound bad.
They are just some commercialised and mainstream bullshit.
Look at what all these alternative bands produce? How long do they take to make a song or even an album?
You might want to argue about how a song doesn't need to be complex to be good...well it's not that other people's music are too complex, it's just that what you are hearing on the radio or seeing on tv suck..yes the dreadful style of music - alternative

Nivana with their Smells Like Teen Spirit made it big because of a 4 chord riff. Seriously I bet there are people who wank over that
Admit it..it's an extremely overated song but some people are just saying they are ok or good because of their peer.

'Emos' are caused by alternative

Bands like : Greenday, My chemical romance..you name the rest

Certain alternative rock fans hate Metal, like the guy from the group 'Metal Sucks', and he is complaining about melodies in metal.. Any style of Metal except for alternative metal is better than alternative rock in ALL aspects

    I fucking hate alternative rock. I hate its "ironic" aesthetic, its whiny, "I'm-bored-out-of-my-mind-doesn't-that-make-me-COOL" vocal style, its wannabe-artsy band and song names, and its insufferably bubbly fangirls. Give me heavy metal or good old CLASSIC rock.
