Image voting was less painful before the change

Hello,

It now takes much much too much time to browse though the pictures and vote.

Before the change, we could see right away, in the image gallery, which image was already voted on and we could also vote for every pictures (yes|no) on this same page, without browsing.

Now I have to cycle browse through every pictures to vote and this without even knowing if I already did or not. It's now too long to vote, maybe I'll stop voting.

PS: This forum is really a pain to keep history of old posts or to simply find them. I don't really know why but I really can't do a decent search and the threads are lost in the black hole after 2 weeks. Maybe it would be better to use a customized phpbb or something which has proven good already instead of reinventing the wheel. (^_~)

I think it's moving in the right direction, but needs a lot of work. It sometimes feels absurd to even try to change certain artists picture now. New pictures are no competition, I submitted a pic that now has around 12 yes votes no negative votes but it still can't move up against pictures with -30 votes because the default 70 votes is just too high. It might get to be the approved picture one day but not many months from now, maybe a year. I see the reasoning behind the change but I hope you guys don't think it's working perfectly.

The default 70 votes are much too high, it don't even makes sense to upload a new picture if an artist already has one, especially with smaller and lesser known bands. You'll might get enough votes for a new picture if you're uploading one for Radiohead, but bands with a smaller listening base will probably keep the old ones for a long time.

The new system is more fun but :

* Please get the voting buttons on the gallery page back (except for images already voted on — For those, only display the opposite button to reverse vote)
* Yes, 70 is too much

The default of 70 only applies to images which were primary under the old system. Also, the ranking of the images isn't simply done on the number of votes, it uses a "recently popular" algorithm.

Here is what was possible before the image page refactory :

It was cool to be able to vote all images directly without browsing through them, one by one … I whish it would come back someday …

(My sample image is ugly, it's just to show what I mean)

one vote for each picture by the same user is a good system though I'd like to see a system where you can choose among the pictures uploaded. Especially when you have more than 1 artists sharing the same name. But i guess this will change as soon as they get artists separated.
