Incorrect autocorrect

  • Incorrect autocorrect

I have found 4 sources that all say that the track
    No Better Swing
    should be No Batter Swing
    http://new.music.yahoo.com/hard-2-obtain/albums/ism-and-blues--5455
    http://www.amazon.com/Ism-Blues-Hard-2-Obtain/dp/B000IHXZRU

    http://www.allmusic.com/album/ism-and-blues-r194885

Another totally wrong autocorrect is the track from Mad Flava's
    album From Tha Ground Unda
track #16 Freak Me which I have
on my copy of the album as Freak 'Em they do say "Freak
'Em" on the actual track when it is playing.

    have we?*

  • Yet again I have found another incorrect autocorrect

Da Beatminerz album Unmarked Music Vol. 1 (Disc 1) track 1 The Halftime Show Intro! (Remix)
this is wrong as this track is on the second CD the track is as I have correctly added in
the information on the mp3 The Halftime Show Intro!

Please will someone change these incorrect autocorrections as they are messing up my library.

    Thanks

  • Is there a problem with the autocorrect, because now it
is fucking up the titles of tracks that display free downloads
example 08. Dream Killers And Broken Hearted Niggas
which should be Dream Killers and Broken Hearted Niggas
in fact a fair number of tracks on Villains Gone Bad II: Kill Superman are being autocorrected erroneously.

I have been posting these errors for a while now and no member
of staff has answered; what gives?

  • This next entry in the autodisect is so blatantly wrong it's
beyond rediculous Money (Feat. Bg Pooh)
...oh and here is the punchline auto-corrected from: Frank Nitt - Money (feat. Big Pooh)

    I am just beside myself.

  • D. Allie
    The Cooperative
Who's That? (It's the Co-Op) is incorrectly autocorrected
and should be as per the words used on the track Who's That? (It's Co-Op)

    sources found:

    http://www.allmusic.com/album/r1397619
    http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/dallie

another track that is incorrectly autocorrected is:
Bang this should be changed to Bang! although to be correct it actually says BANG!

Image of back cover of the album is a good place to find the correct titles.

I could add more, but why should I. And while I am posting it would be a brilliant
idea to not always rely on musicbrainz as like wiki it is run by the information added
by everyday people and not necessarily the official record labels or artists themselves.

Also it would be polite if a staff member would actually reply to this thread and say
whether these issues are going to be dealt with.. posting is no good if no one replies.

    Thanks

    Tim :-)

I've been through this list and corrected them. It's worth noting that some had already been corrected automatically.

The autocorrection of the name of Zimmer's Hole has annoyed me for a looooong time. The band's name is actually Zimmers Hole, without the apostrophe. You can check from their own home page at Legion Of Flames, and check out their album covers. No apostrophe to be seen anywhere!

Would you please correct Zimmer's Hole to the correct form Zimmers Hole? Thank you! :)

    Don't correct when I don't use autocorrection!

WTH are you guys doing? I have my autocorrection turned off but still it corrects the albumcharts. My tags says The Prodigy but here on my albumcharts it still changes to Prodigy. Come on you guys. Fix this. You haven't done this for sooo many years now. This is the third time I get an account here and things haven't gotten any better. Seems like you don't give a damn anymore.

  • Be Thankful (feat. Mont Jones) is incorrectly autocorrected
to Be Thankful Ft Mont Jones
The first one is the correct one.

    Mugshot, it is not.

    As per proper tagging rules.

    -G.

  • @juepucta: it is more common to add the featured artist within brackets
and the common way to do this is to either have (featuring..) or (feat.)

and I think you will find that last.fm uses these more than Ft.
Also Ft. has so many other uses that it could get mis-used.
Yes in some cases you can have (ft.) but as this also means
foot (length) and other things; I prefer as anyone else does to
use either (featuring) or (feat.) :)

    No.

The name of the tracks is 'Be Thankful'.

    Just that.

Not 'Artist - Title (feat. Guest)' but 'Artist - Title'. If anything the guest, assuming it is a proper duet or collaboration goes in the 'artist' field.

    -G.

  • Well actually there are so many different ways of naming this track that
    either could be correct.
    http://www.undergroundhiphop.com/edog-wishful-thinking/OVL03LP/
in this case it is Be Thankful featuring Mont Jones on some, yes
it does say just the title of the track. There are no hard and fast rules,
I just happen to find it easier to keep my tags as they are... thank you!

Not to be a nitpicker, but in this particular case there are rules. Hard and fast.

Last uses MusicBrainz rules: Do NOT use (feat. Artist) if an artist is featured on a recording.

    -G.

  • most of the time I try to use when I can the track listings on the back of the albums.
MusicBrainz is not always necessarily correct and is not an official authority, it
relies on input by people who are registered and wish to add the information.

It's not the title of the track, is the formatting that is wrong. That is an established rule.

    -G.

  • Without going too much into this as I would like to keep this thread on topic (i.e. incorrect autocorrections).. in some way I can see what you are saying, however I have a problem with the use of featuring artist/s mainly due to mis-tagging of main artist/s for albums. For example you may have an album that is by artist A and may be a couple of tracks will feature guest artists that only add just a small part to the tracks. The track is still by the main artist of the album and is the most important therefore I would add the featured artist within (). If the album cover has artist featuring Artist B then the main artist/s would be both those.

    Anyway I agree to disagree on this issue as I have seen on album track listings both the use of Artist/s - Song Title feat. Artist/s and Artist/s - Song Title (feat. Artist/s);
also Artist/s - Song Title featuring Artist/s as well as Artist/s - Song Title ft. Artist/s
...I think you get the drift.. it really is not ten commandments time.

The band Borgo is automatically corrected to the band Borko.

    Borko: http://www.last.fm/music/Borko
    Borgo: http://www.last.fm/music/+noredirect/Borgo

Borgo is a legitimate band with an actual release and thus should not be redirected to Borko as both are completely different artists.
