Oxegen is an annual music festival, held since 2004, sponsored by Heineken International. It was previously called Witnness, which ran from the year 2000 and was sponsored by Guinness. Oxegen was originally a two-day festival but for 2008 will be expanded to three days. It takes place at the Punchestown Racecourse in County Kildare, Republic of Ireland and has an average attendance of around 80,000 a day, with around half of these camping on site for the duration, and the rest travelling to the site each day. The festival is promoted by MCD.

While Oxegen has not yet reached the iconic status of Glastonbury, it still manages to attract a large quantity of high profile acts each year. Generally, the festival’s line-up is identical to that of T in the Park, which runs on the same weekend, but in Scotland. Many acts play Oxegen on the day that they’re not playing TitP.
As well as six stages of music, there are two large areas for camping which are subdivided by number. Stalls and shops are also provided, as well as toilet and shower areas (from 2006). The toilet facilities have been criticised by some as not being adequate for the large number of people at the festival. There is also a funfair adjacent to the arena, featuring a big wheel and other rides, such as the «Magic Carpet», the «Big Drop», and the roller coaster.

Prodigy were incredible. Loads of people didn't think so, must have been a good place and I wasn't E'd off my face or drunk. Loved Panic! but they have changed. The guys around me at Rage were shit so I really didn't enjoy their set, plus all the sound problems were ridiculous. God is An Astronaut would have been the most unexpected highlight of the weekend. Bands I saw: God Is An Astronaut Burns (end of the set) Sneaky Sound System Bryn Christopher Ben Folds Aphex Twin Calvin Harris Bowling For Soup The Wombats The Hoosiers Panic! Feeder Hot Chip Prodigy MGMT (crowd near me were bastards + that girl shoulda been shot) Republic of Loose (heard not saw) The Kaiser Chiefs (for five mins before I was dragged to the pogues) The Pogues Rage (Disappointed) Missed a lot. Ting TIngs Subways We Are Scientists Newton Faulkner To name but a few

I found it funny when I saw the first guy pissing on the wall inside the urinal blocks. Then I saw loads more people do it, and it was less funny...though it still didn't make much sense. DRUNKEN LOKGIC 'AIGHT?

The Music were savage and Ting Tings were better than expected. Roisin Murphy rocked as did UNKLE. I enjoyed REM and Kings of Leon. Republic of Loose were shite and I didn't think much of Prodigy, left to see Justice instead who were great. Roll on the Picnic!

I kind of appreciated that, as I only know them a little. And besides, the music is so happy that I couldn't resist bouncing around like a tool. That's what I really loved.

Was I the only one who though that The Go! Team were really fucking great? They're part of the reason I gave up 5 minutes into Groove Armada for being boring shite. Go! Team are fucking FUN. Also, the Pogues were something insane, you had to be there. Kind of like an Irish-er version of Seasick Steve (who the crowd also went nuts for, me included). Bands I enjoyed the most? I can't say, I never saw a boring one. Randomers I went to were 'The Metros' (don't ask me why I went to them instead of Aphex Twin...) and 'The Wombats', both of which were catchy and danceable enough to jump around and have fun with. Though I have to give a special mention to Pendulum for making me exhaust myself utterly due to the insane energy that their set gave...well, everyone.
