MAPS & ATLASES
http://mapsandatlases.org/

In a musical landscape pitted with pop stars and pigeonholes, Maps & Atlases defy easy categorization, choosing to walk their own incomparable path.

Latest album 'Beware and Be Grateful' builds upon the Chicago-based band's acclaimed Barsuk Records debut, 'Perch Patchwork', melding their trademark experimentalism with a more direct - though no less beguiling - songcraft. The new album abounds with invention, spanning hymnal harmonies, percolating rhythms - all gloriously liquid and lyrical, channeling M&A's maximalist creativity into a truly inviting brand of boundary-busting, asymmetrical pop.

Since their formation in 2004, Maps & Atlases have captured the indie imagination with polyrhythmic beats, elaborate melodies, and post-rock ingenuity. With its blend of avant garde audacity and pop craftsmanship, 'Beware and Be Grateful' stands firmly in the great art rock tradition, a model synthesis of novelty and tradition, of listen ability and invention. Maps & Atlases have crafted a collection of resplendently human music, its intricate dynamics wholly matched by ornate wells of deep emotion.

FAREWELL J.R

Farewell JR arrive with their debut EP, ‘Health’, set for release on 11th March 2013 via the independent Talking Shop Records.

What initially started out as a solo project for front man Nick Rayner on his return to Cambridge, for what he regarded as some “much needed time to be alone”, has since grown to something much greater.

Hunkered down in Cambridge, Rayner wrote, recorded, and mixed a series of stripped back songs that have come to form the basis of the ‘Health’ EP. He then travelled to Ireland, where, with assistant engineer Edan Ray, he recorded the stirring drums, whilst the soaring violins that characterise this EP were being recorded on the other side of the world, in Australia.

The resulting record is a collection of emotive songs that grow from sparse guitar picked melodies that recall early days Bon Iver, through to grand melodies and orchestral arrangements more reminiscent of Arcade Fire.

MOUNT FUJI
https://www.facebook.com/mountfujimusic

Mount Fuji are four friends from Birmingham making music without boundaries, formerly known as Conquistadors.

Following a brief hiatus they're back with their eclectic tastes and unstructured style intact, making for high-energy, catchy songs that can be infectious pop one second and hellish noise the next.

From headlining shows to supporting Tera Melos, Shapes, Blacklisters, &U&I, The JCQ, Kong and Blakfish, Conks - as they were affectionately known - leave behind a memorable legacy. Mount Fuji now aim to build on the solid fan base they gathered under their previous guise - and have already notched up supports with This Town Needs Guns & DZ Deathrays.

Currently halfway through the writing stage of their debut full-length, Mount Fuji return to playing live armed with an arsenal of fresh material.

"Part experimental Prog-Rock, part Lo-Fi sound explosion, all of it gloriously noisy, the band are not afraid to play around with new sounds and new ideas. If anything, they are just afraid of sounding like anyone else…. If you like music that's not afraid to push entire post offices full of envelopes, this could well be the band for you" - BBC
