£10.75 to £23.73 - The Charles Hazlewood All Stars revive the live Tubular Bells experience, performing the iconic album that launched Virgin Records and defined The Exorcist.
In the winter of 1973, a groundbreaking event took place at Queen Elizabeth Hall - the only ever live performance of Mike Oldield's Tubular Bells by a 'supergroup', an ensemble featuring Steve Hillage and Mick Taylor (then a member of The Rolling Stones) amongst others. Now, fresh from highly successful performances at Glastonbury this year, the Charles Hazlewood All Stars - 'a sort of avant-garde super group' (The Idler) - bring Tubular Bells back to Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Hazlewood's eight-piece band includes: Adrian Utley (from Portishead) and Will Gregory (from Goldfrapp). Alongside Tubular Bells, they perform Terry Riley's rare psychedelic classic from 1969, A Rainbow in Curved Air, which inspired Oldfield. A piece packed with skirling organ loops, it's the aural equivalent to climbing inside a giant lava lamp.
